 [ABSTRACT]

The purpose of this study is to examine the establishment and operation of transit centers that can activate public transportation in connection with the suburbs and cities in order to revitalize public transportation in rural areas with poor public transportation supply. However, rather than establishing a transfer center, inefficient public transportation problems such as rural remote routes, rural transportation models that are currently being supplied as new transportation models, bus-type DRT, etc., and the introduction of the transfer system as a means for establishing public transportation in rural areas.

First of all, the general status of the rural area, the status of the transportation system, and the operation status of public transportation were analyzed, and implications were derived to suggest the direction of the reform of the public transportation system in rural areas. As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed that it is necessary to establish a sustainable rural public transportation system, to supply local customized transportation services, to reorganize the remote route system, to establish the trunk-branch route system and transit system, and to establish the trunk-branch route system and to diversify the branch transportation service in the rural area.

The establishment of the trunk-branch line system separates the existing eup-myeon-village connection route into the eup-myeon trunk line and the myeon-village branch line, and suggests ways to reduce the waiting time when transferring to the branch line by increasing the number of trunk service operations. In order to diversify the branch line transportation service, I suggested the bus-type DRT operated by Cheongju city, the flexible route operation that operate the remote route through the surrounding villages when the demand arises, using the public type taxi.

In the direction of establishing a bus transfer system in rural areas, the concept of a transfer system between the town location where out-of-town transfers occur and the town location where transfers between trunk and branch lines occur was introduced. Currently, most of the rural bus model stores are operated using intercity transportation bases, so the transfer between the city and the city is smooth, but some rural areas are operating separate rural bus model stores, suggesting the need for integration. A new plan was proposed to make a transfer base for the location of Myeon, where transit between trunk and branch lines occurs, and a plan was proposed to link various branch line transportation centered on the location of Myeon, the transfer function with the arterial line between Eup and Myeon, and the life-oriented function together.

Lastly, as a policy proposal of this study, the necessity of systematizing the supply of individual transportation services to rural areas, the necessity of supplying sustainable transportation services to rural areas, and the necessity of private-public function sharing for providing rural transportation services were suggested.
