Amid increasing global economic downturn risks, rapid shifts in industrial environments, and rising uncertainty, there is an urgent need to diagnose the current state of Chungbuk’s industrial economy and prepare strategies for structural improvement. In addition, growing policy demand for 

integrated information on regional industrial and economic conditions—accessible to local firms and innovation institutions—provided the impetus for 

conducting this study.

The purpose of this research is to provide a comprehensive diagnosis of the overall industrial economy of Chungbuk and to derive policy implications that can strengthen the region’s economic structure and future competitiveness. To achieve this, the study analyzes eight major sectors: 

Regional Economy, Industry, Agriculture, Science & Technology, Jobs and Labor Environment, Startups, Small Businesses, Trade.

The sector-specific policy improvement measures for Chungbuk’s industrial economy can be summarized as follows: 1) Regional Economy

Diversify growth engines to enhance resilience against economic fluctuations Promote service sector development to upgrade industrial structures

Increase value added in research-driven industries through convergence Shift from a “production-centered economy” to a “consumption-centered 

economy”

2) Industry

Foster knowledge-intensive service industries for balanced industrial growth Establish convergence clusters connecting Chungbuk’s strategic 

industries Build a talent development system for technology-convergent future industries Formulate innovation-driven growth strategies for industrial 

complexes

3) Agriculture

Promote smart agriculture and build digital agricultural infrastructure Develop a sustainable agricultural ecosystem Strengthen competitiveness of 

specialty crops and expand export-oriented farming Foster agricultural corporations and encourage the inflow of young farmers

4) Science and Technology

Develop science and technology strategies differentiated from national hubs Expand financial support to strengthen university and corporate R&D

capacity Support practical research within corporate R&D organizations Build pathways that link academic and patent achievements to technology commercialization

5) Jobs and Labor Environment

This study provides comprehensive, sector-specific diagnostic data on Chungbuk’s industrial economy. The findings are expected to:

- Support  evidence-based policy making

- Assist regional economic actors in strategic planning and decision-making

- Improve accessibility and usability of integrated regional industrial data

Ultimately, the research aims to contribute to strengthening Chungbuk’s industrial competitiveness and building a future-oriented economic structure.
