 [ABSTRACT]

The second relocation of public institutions in the innovation city is ongoing. Accordingly, this study proposed a basic direction for attracting public institutions to Chungbuk based on an analysis of regional conditions and the status of public institutions.

As of 2024, there are 339 public institutions, and 161 public institutions remain in the metropolitan area.

This study mainly focused on deriving public institutions suitable for innovation city areas and non-innovation city areas and on policy suggestions for attracting them.

The direction of deriving public institutions was based on regional strategic industries, national core resources, and connectivity with existing public institutions. As a result, 14 institutions were derived from innovation city areas and 16 institutions from non-innovation city areas.

The policy direction for attracting public institutions is as follows. First, the site for relocation of public institutions should be secured preemptively. Second, a logical development is needed to promote the results of innovation city development to the government. Third, efforts should be made to promote the innovation city settlement environment and public institutions’ mutual growth. Fourth, improvement of the system for mutual growth and organizational structure of public institutions is necessary.
