 [ABSTRACT]

The purpose of this study was to present an effective decision-making support plan for air quality policy through spatial analysis of risk and vulnerability associated with particulate matter. To do so, this study operationally defined the risk and vulnerabilitie of particulate matter, mapped Cheongju-Si as a case study, and then interpreted the spatial relationships between risk and vulnerabilitie, and explored policy implications.

As a result, new urban areas with a high proportion of industrial areas, adjacent to new housing estates and schools, and old urban areas with low ground levels, a low proportion of urban parks and a high concentration of old houses were identified as priority management areas. The areas identified can be candidates for selection as high concentration intensive management areas and can be considered as priority areas for the installation and distribution of emission reduction equipment and the implementation of projects to support vulnerable groups.

In addition, this study can be used as a basis for the establishment of spatial environmental policies for the air sector in the integrated management of the land environment and for the establishment of air environmental policies that take into account health equity.
