 [ABSTRACT]

This study aims to provide basic data that can be used as a guideline for university support policy by analyzing the current status of universities that have not been analyzed in the current situation where uncertainty in regional universities and the regional economy is increasing.

The research results are as follows. First, As of 2023, there are 18 schools in the Chungbuk region, including general universities, colleges of education, and colleges, and looking at each region, 8 schools are concentrated in the Cheongju area.

Second, looking at the main status of each university over the past two to three years, the number of enrollees and enrolled students is decreasing at the same time in both universities and colleges.

Third, the proportion of local employment among college graduates located in Chungbuk Province was 27.0% in 2022, a decrease of 0.6%p compared to 2019.

Fourth, it was estimated that the main industries in the Chungbuk region would have a shortage of about 5,441 people even if all of the supplied manpower was deployed, and it was found that about 120 more people were needed than at the time of the `21 analysis.

The proposed plan to revitalize the region, industry, and university is as follows.

First, collaboration needs to evolve. Second, it is necessary to analyze and link the direction of specialization of local specialized universities. Fifth, a clear sense of purpose and performance evaluation are necessary. Fourth, settlement conditions need to be improved.
