 [ABSTRACT]

With the increasing importance of water management due to climate change and water scarcity, local governments are required to establish water management plans tailored to their regional characteristics under the Framework Act on Water Management.

This study is as a preliminary investigation for the establishment of water management plans in the Chungbuk region. By analyzing water-related databases, the study aims to present the current status of water management in Chungbuk, identify water-vulnerable areas, and propose management directions.

Currently, Chungbuk demonstrates favorable levels in water quality, aquatic ecosystems, and LPCD(liter per capita day). However, the region is relatively vulnerable compared to the national average in terms of water supply and sewage system coverage rates, groundwater utilization rates, and the number of areas vulnerable to natural disasters.

Detailed evaluation criteria for water environment, water usage, and water disasters were established, and the degree of vulnerability was quantified based on the average values across Chungbuk.

As a result, water-vulnerable areas and fields were identified, and from an integrated water management perspective, Eumseong-gun was evaluated as the most vulnerable among the 11 cities and counties in Chungbuk.
