 [ABSTRACT]

The safety needs of Chungbuk residents are constantly increasing due to unexpected disasters that recur every year. Since 2015, Chungcheongbuk-do has had the worst regional safety index rating for crime, followed by suicide and fire. The suicide index has recently worsened, and urgent action is needed. Projects that need to be implemented quickly to improve the safety index include increasing the number of CCTVs for traffic enforcement, increasing the budget for fire policy and the number of fire safety trainings, increasing the number of police stations (police stations, districts, security centers, etc.), installing AEDs, increasing the number of life safety newspaper reports, and increasing the number of first aid trainings.

In order to improve the regional safety index, it is essential to 1) promote projects directly linked to the improvement of the regional safety index detail indicators. 2) It is essential to establish a governance system in which members of relevant organisations participate in each sector of the Community Safety Index. 3) A detailed diagnosis is needed in order to find implications by converting the values of the detailed indicators of the Community Safety Index, which are statistical data, into spatial data. 4) Distinguish between projects that need to be implemented quickly and those that will strengthen the safety base of the region in the medium to long term, and implement them in stages. 5) It is necessary to link the disaster prevention projects promoted by each city and county with the regional safety index improvement project. 6) In addition to the regional safety index, it is necessary to periodically investigate the safety perception of Chungbuk residents and analyze the relationship between the two to derive strategies to increase safety perception
