 [ABSTRACT]

With the enactment of the "Special Act on Support for Central Inland-linked Development Areas" in 23, a new planned area called the Central Inland-linked Development Area was born. This area targets 27 cities and counties in 8 cities and provinces bordering Chungbuk-do and Chungbuk-do. The Ministry of Public Administration and 8 provinces are planning to prepare comprehensive policies to foster the area. However, this planning area was the first planning area that was different from the scope of the conventional municipal administrative districts and the scope of the metropolitan area, and there is no consideration on how the cities and counties in this area are connected and interacting. Therefore, this study attempted to examine the functional linkage characteristics of cities and counties in this area by analyzing the linkage network structure targeting Chungbuk cities and counties adjacent to each other. As for the analysis data, this area could not be analyzed through the conventional statistical range such as the Population and Housing Census, so T-map movement big data was used. The time point was compared between 2019 and 2023.

As a result of the analysis, it was found that the Gini coefficient was decreasing, and the similarity of clusters between cities and counties was increasing. In addition, it was confirmed that the centrality between specific regions was high, while network connectivity was low in some regions. These results emphasize the importance of interregional linkage cooperation for the balanced development of the central inland-linked development area. This study is the first attempt to analyze the characteristics of the legalized central inland-linked development area from the perspective of a network, and can be used as useful basic data for setting future policy directions for sustainable development of the central inland-linked development area.
