 [ABSTRACT]

The digital transformation refers to the application of digital technologies across all sectors to fundamentally alter societal systems and values. It encompasses changes in societal culture, addressing current issues, experiences, and risks. In South Korea, industrial digital transformation defines the integration of digital technologies such as big data, AI, and 5G throughout the industrial process to solve challenges and create new value.

Since the Davos Forum in January 2016, there has been increased attention on the 'Fourth Industrial Revolution' and 'Artificial Intelligence,' accelerating the pace of digital transformation. This transformation has been progressing faster than anticipated across various societal sectors like cities, industries, welfare, tourism, and healthcare.

This study aims to evaluate Chungbuk Province's digital capabilities and derive sector-specific strategies to adapt to this new era of digital-centric transformation. By examining general concepts and recent trends in digital transformation, along with key domestic and international policies, the study aims to draw implications for the application of digital transformation at both national and regional levels. Additionally, it examines leading examples of digital transformation in various fields to explore Chungbuk's potential and specific strategies for digital transformation across sectors such as urban development, industries, agriculture, welfare, and workforce.

To address the rapidly evolving digital transformation, Chungbuk requires measures like phased implementation of smart city models, enhancing regional digital competitiveness, fostering SW convergence platforms, accelerating convergence between AI, big data, and pharmaceutical biotechnology, promoting digital technology adoption to bridge disparities, strengthening digital capabilities among agricultural users, expanding inclusive digital policies based on technology acceptance, supporting the growth and settlement of digital talents. Strategies include fostering integrated support centers for digital transformation in Chungbuk, establishing pioneering digital transformation infrastructures, discovering localized leading projects, expanding digital welfare for vulnerable groups, and formulating tailored systems for nurturing digital talents across various sectors such as urban development, industries, rural areas, welfare, and workforce.
